Maritime Contest Runner Up. Photographer: Penny Jarrett. It was taken Sept. 10, 2007 at 8:40 pm from the Kondor Explorer. We had had some incredibly striking rainbows and sunsets during this time period. It was easy to see that the rainbow and the Sigma vessel were going to align with each other; it was just a matter of time. Upon seeing the rainbow over the Sigma, I thought of the Irish belief of there being a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and the Beverly Hillbilly's theme song with the words,

Nature Contest Winner. Photographer: Douglas Taylor. This Atlantic white-sided dolphin was one of a pod of around 20 animals that I spotted while working as an MMO on a chase vessel in the German sector of the North Sea, April 2007. 4 of the dolphins broke away from their group to investigate the vessel; a behaviour not often associated with this particular species. The flat calm conditions are also a pretty special event in the North Sea.
